Coreglia Antelminelli (LU) - One of the most beautiful villages in Italy - Tuscany

A mountain village in the middle of Serchio Valley, Coreglia Antelminelli, rises in a splendid panoramic position with the Apennine arc behind it. The first documents on the origin of the town date back to the 10th century.

The most crucial attraction of Coreglia Antelminelli is the Museum of plaster figurines and Emigration: a vast range of statuettes allows you to know the styles of this art and the particular tendency towards emigration, which led the Coreglia figurine makers to export their craftsmanship all over the World.

In the village, the church of San Martino, built in the 9th

century, is also worth a visit. Inside is the Madonna del Rosario, painted by Pietro Sorri in 1598.

Worthy of note - the Rocca, an imposing military building that presumably dates back to the Romanesque era. The Castellana Church of San Michele was built close to the ancient fortress in the 12th century. Inside: a painting depicting the Archangel San Michele (14th century) and a beautiful Annunciation from the Pisan school (1352).

Gastronomy

In the area around Coreglia Antelminelli, the Biroldo della Garfagnana is made, a local salami, the Mondiola della Garfagnana, a large salami with a characteristic U shape, tied with a bay leaf, among the dairy products: the Garfagnana cow's ricotta and the goat's cheese from the Apuan Alps.
