A story characterized by particular characters: the Orsanti, from Compianesi who between 800 and 900 left the Val di Taro for Europe to perform in the squares of towns and cities with domesticated animals, including bears, or to sell their wares... #tuttitaly
The narrow streets paved in river stone, the noble palaces, the old houses, the church, and the castle make up the pretty village of Compiano.
Overlooking the panorama, the village square is embellished by the Baroque church of San Giovanni Battista, guardian of the precious mantle of the Madonna delle Monache Agostiniana.
Castle of Compiano
The real protagonist of Compiano is the Castle, which conquers you at first glance for its grandeur and elegance.
The last inhabitant of the fortress was the Marquise Lina Raimondi Gambarotta, who enhanced the rooms, which can now be visited with a guided tour.
The castle also houses a second museum, one of a kind: the International Masonic Museum, which, through the collection of Professor Flaminio Musa, recounts the English Masonic symbolism of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Typical meal
To taste the "bonissima": a pastry filled with a mixture of honey and chopped walnuts, and rum.
