Cingoli (MC) - One of the most beautiful villages in Italy - Balcony of the Marche

"Balcony of the Marche" is what the enchanting Cingoli was called, located on the top of Monte Circe, 631 m above sea level. From its height, the gaze extends from the Adriatic Sea to the Apennines, thus enjoying a splendid view.

Passing through the wonderful Porta Piana, you enter the medieval village, thus diving into the past among alleys full of charm and buildings with a unique architectural style.

The town's beating heart is Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, overlooked by several interesting buildings, including the massive Palazzo del Comune and the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.

The Palazzo del Comune, dating back to the 1200s, preserves the beautiful painting by Lorenzo Lotto, "La Madonna del Rosario," from the mid-16th century.

The building is also home to the Archaeological Museum, where the collections of materials referable to the excavations carried out in the municipal area are exhibited.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta was built in 1615 on a pre-existing place of worship dedicated to the Most Holy Saviour. Inside, it preserves a canvas depicting a Virgin and Child enthroned among the saints, used for the annual procession on the occasion of the feast of the Assumption.

Gastronomy

We are in Cingoli and therefore in the Marche region. The typical dish is vincisgrassi, made with egg pasta alternating with layers of sauce, prepared with pork, beef, and chicken entrails. A word that we enjoyed!
