Cilento National Park, Vallo di Diano and Alburni (SA) - UNESCO World Heritage Site - Campania
The Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, the second largest park in Italy, extends from the Tyrrhenian coast to the foot of the Campania-Lucan Apennines.
Includes 80 municipalities: the largest, Capaccio-Paestum, with over 22 thousand inhabitants; the smallest, Valle dell'Angelo, with 264.
With 181 thousand hectares on land and 9 thousand at sea, after establishing the Marine Protected Areas of "Santa Maria di Castellabate" and " Costa Degli Infreschi e Della Masseta,” the Park is the largest protected area in Italy.
Since 1998 it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site (with the archaeological sites of Paestum, Velia, and the Certosa di Padula).
