"You don't go through here," a phrase that has become the motto of the Liguria Brigade ... in fact, they didn't pass!... #tuttitaly
The small church of Santa Maria sul Pasubio was commissioned by Monsignor Francesco Galloni, Chaplain of the Alpini of the "Monte Suello" Battalion. The building is made in memory of the Fallen of World War I and a tomb for the burial of the body of General Rossi.
A few steps from the church, there is the tomb of General Vittorio Emanuele Rossi, Commander of the "Monte Berico" Battalion, who wanted to be buried in the sacred area of Pasubio.
I must say that it had a strange effect on me to be in this suggestive place. We are talking about 5000 square meters of history.
In addition to this "Monument," we find the cemetery where 164 soldiers were buried. Soldiers who fought for our Italy and to whom we owe our gratitude. Some tombstones are nameless, a sign that we will never know our heroes.
The cemetery was given the name "From here one does not pass" and is also called, erroneously, "cemetery of Seven Crosses"; the burial place looks like a terraced system, enclosed by very low drywall.
But here, after a profound moment in our history, it is time to return, as time becomes threatening (as documented in the Google Photos album, which you access by clicking on the link below).
