The Church of Santa Lucia in Serra San Quirico is a historic building that has been documented since 1276. Over the centuries, it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times until its reconsecration in 1726. Initially entrusted to the Silvestrine monks, in 1504, it became a parish, always managed by the monks, until 1986, when it became the rectory of the only parish of San Quirico.
The building is in Baroque style and features rich decoration with paintings, stucco, and gilding.
Inside are seven altars or chapels, each dedicated to a religious figure. The main altar, built in 1739, is precious, with polychrome marbles.
The church is rich in relics of saints and, in the past, was equipped with precious sacred furnishings. However, many objects were removed during the Napoleonic period; others were hidden during the suppression of religious orders and never returned to their place.
Today, the monumental complex of Santa Lucia houses the Operational Headquarters of the Regional Natural Park of the Gola della Rossa and Frasassi.
