Caulonia Marina, hamlet of Caulonia (RC) - Calabria

The Marina di Caulonia is a resort located in Caulonia, in the province of Reggio Calabria, in the region of Calabria. This fraction was born following the flood of 1951, which destroyed many houses in the area.

Before the flood, Marina di Caulonia was just a tiny settlement with a few houses next to the train station. However, due to the damage caused by the flood, many people were forced to leave their homes, and temporary accommodations were built to accommodate them.

In 1952, reconstruction work began in the area, and in 1953, a nursery school was opened to accommodate the displaced children. In 1956, the new church dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua was inaugurated, becoming an essential point of reference for the local community.

In 1959, the Immacolatine nuns moved to Marina di Caulonia, bringing with them an essential contribution to the religious life of the area.

In 1960, a new parish priest was assigned to the church, bringing further developments and improvements to the community.

In 1961, a competition was announced to select a stable priest for the church of Marina di Caulonia, confirming the importance and growth of the religious community in the area.

Today, Marina di Caulonia has become a popular tourist destination, thanks to its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear sea.

Visitors can enjoy a pleasant walk along the promenade, admiring the panoramic view of the horizon and experiencing the delicious local cuisine, which offers dishes based on fresh fish and typical products of the region.
