A village that enchants every visitor; Its history is shrouded in legend, as according to the belief this is the land that saw the birth of the myth of Leucosia... #tuttitaly
In the southern part of the province of Salerno, there is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy; it is Castellabate. It enchants every visitor for the charm of its landscapes and the legend, according to which the myth of Leucosia was born here. The mermaid with the body of a woman with a fishtail could charm anyone she met.
The village is surrounded by the beautiful Mediterranean scrub that embellishes the Bay of Ogliastro Marina and the Island of Licosa, surrounded by long golden beaches alternating with rugged rocks.
Walking around the village, you will be immersed in an atmosphere of the past. You can visit the suggestive Museum of the Sea housed in Villa Matarazzo. Here you will discover critical archaeological finds such as amphorae, transported around the 1st century BC. from a sunken ship, unearthed in 1990.
You can admire the Medieval Castle, the Roman Basilica, the Museum of Sacred Art, and the numerous noble palaces.
Although modernized and restored, not even the Greco-Roman port in San Marco di Castellabate has lost its charm.
Nature, art, history, delicious Cilento cuisine, and the inhabitants' kindness make Castellabate the ideal place to spend your holidays.
