Campigna (FC) - Casentinesi Forest National Park - UNESCO World Heritage Site - Emilia Romagna

Surrounded by the peaks of Monte Falco, Monte Falterona, and Monte Gabrendo - Campigna is the smallest and highest village in the Bidente Valley, the heart of the Foreste Casentinesi National Park.


Campigna is immersed in one of the most critical historical forests on a national level, inhabited by numerous animal species and by a luxuriant and particular flora: the pine forest, the natural forest, the beech, the silver fir, the sycamore maple, the yew.

The Park also hosts the Integral Nature Reserve of Sasso Fratino, established in 1959, with an area of ​​764 hectares: an example of a forest left to its natural course, accessible only to scholars for scientific research.


The ski resort of Campigna starts from an altitude of 1510 and reaches a height of 1650. There are two slopes: a medium-difficulty red one (1100m) and a difficult black one (950m). In addition, wide paths for walking with snowshoes.

Gastronomy

This small town between Romagna and Tuscany offers dishes based on porcini mushrooms, Romagna, and Chianina beef. Among the specialties to be tasted: are raviggiolo cheese, tortello alla lastra, and fir honey with particular balsamic properties.
