A dip in the sea that seems painted. It is also known as ispùligi de nie (snow fleas) for the round pebbles, white and pink, mixed with the sand, which make it up.
It owes its name to the monk seal that, it is said, 'stole' the catch from the nets of fishermen from Ponza, so it was called the mariolo (thief)... #tuttitaly
Cala Mariolu, one of the pearls of the Gulf of Orosei, is also known as is pùligi de nei (snow fleas) for its round, white and pink pebbles that characterize it.
The name derives from "mariolo" and means "thief."
The cove owes its name to the monk seal, which is thought to have stolen the catch from the fishermen's nets from Ponza.
The splendid landscape is painted in shades of blue, emerald green, and azure and by pebbles that resemble snowflakes.
In the background, the cliff, which falls into the sea, reaches 500m.
Not far away is the suggestive Fico cave.
Cala Mariolu is more easily accessible from Arbatax, Cala Gonone, and Santa Maria Navarrese ports.
