Cabras (OR) - Sinis Peninsula - Sardinia

A holiday dedicated to nature and culture, with the discoveries of Mont'e Prama, which theoretically should be the Pompeii of Sardinia, more minor, but also much older..#tuttitaly

Cabras (OR) - Sinis Peninsula - Sardinia

The central-western coast in the province of Oristano, characterized by the coastal areas of Cabras and the Sinis peninsula, is less known than the Costa Smeralda but no less beautiful.

The Sinis is geologically an alluvial area filled with

sediments from the erosion of the nearby Montiferru. The debris collection has led to the union of the northwest and southwest areas of the peninsula, which were islets separated from Sardinia to the mainland. The island of Mal di Ventre is a testimony of this ancient archipelago.

The coast is rocky in the southern part of San Giovanni di Sinis. Proceeding north, it initially becomes sandy (beaches of Punta Maimoni, Is Arutas, Mari Ermì), then it is characterized by high cliffs up to Capo Mannu. Below it opens the Cala Saline with the Salina and the Putzu Iddu beach.

Among the most beautiful beaches of Oristano, there is the beach of Is Arutas. This was included among the most beautiful beaches in the world in 2013 and is famous for its particular sand. This, together with the beaches of Mari Ermì and Punta Maimoni, comprises porphyritic granite. The slow disintegration of matter under atmospheric events and following particular cooling conditions have created backdrops composed of small rounded quartz grains with shades of colors that alternate between pink, light green, and white. Here the clear water of the sea takes on a color between green and intense blue. This corner of Sardinia is one of a kind and is still wild.

Another beautiful beach is that of San Giovanni di Sinis, which extends for about 4 km on the peninsula's western side.

Going towards Is Arutas, don't miss the opportunity to visit the village of San Salvatore di Sinis. Its low houses gathered around a central source were built towards the end of the seventeenth century and are inhabited by the owners only in the summer or during the novenas. Many Western films have been shot inside the village, as it recalls the landscape between Arizona and Mexico in the 1800s.

Cabras is the ideal place to spend a family holiday away from the crowds of tourists.
