With essential numbers, the largest aquarium in Europe covers 27,000 square meters and hosts 12,000 animals and 200 plant species. The Genoa Aquarium will surprise you and will also allow you to breathe and discover the magnificent city that hosts it #tuttitaly
The Aquarium is located in the sixteenth-century ancient port of Genoa. It was inaugurated in 1992 on the occasion of the Expo, celebrating the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America, and offers the visitor a tour of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
The Genoa Aquarium includes 39 tanks and four open-air tanks of the Cetacean Pavilion, inaugurated in 2013.
The tanks house around 15,000 animals of 400 different species, including fish, marine mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates, in environments that reproduce the original ones of the individual species for educational purposes.
Thanks to the new Cetacean Pavilion, it is possible to admire the dolphins both from above, thanks to a large glass wall, and from an underwater perspective, thanks to the glass tunnel.
Twice a day, it is possible to watch the dolphins feed and listen to curiosities and information on the biology of the animals and the daily work necessary for their maintenance.
Two unique itineraries, "Adventure Aquarium" and "Secret Aquarium," allow children to discover what is hidden behind the tanks and see the secret areas of the aquarium. An experience much appreciated by the little ones.
