Bianco (RC) - Beach of Bianco - Calabria

Bianco is ideal for discerning palates who want to enjoy enchanting beaches and fine wines. Its beaches, awarded with the Blue Flag, are famous for their white sand and crystal-clear sea. The town is surrounded by limestone hills that give the landscape a unique and fascinating appearance.

Origins

The municipality's name derives precisely from these white hills, which host the ancient village of Bianco, which dates back to the 10th century. Even today, it is possible to admire its ruins, the buildings' portals, and the city walls' remains.

Bianco originated from the Greek-Roman village of Butroto, an essential port of Locri Epizephyrii until the earthquake of 1783. After the earthquake, a new settlement arose near the beach.

Events

The town offers an unspoiled landscape and various events, such as the White Night, which concludes with a big party and spectacular fireworks.

Beaches

Among the main attractions of Bianco are the beaches of Africo and Capo Bruzzano, awarded with the Blue Flag, which extend along the Coast of Jasmine.

These beaches are famous for their colors, scents, and crystal-clear seabeds and are very popular among diving enthusiasts.

Wine treasures

Bianco is renowned for its fine wines, particularly Greco di Bianco and Mantonico. Greco di Bianco, with the DOC label, is a passito wine with an amber color and a scent of orange blossom, which is consumed both as an aperitif and with desserts. Mantonico, on the other hand, is a wine with a citrine color and a bold and full flavor.
