Waterfalls of the Mill of Saturnia, hamlet of Manciano (GR) - Tuscany

Legend has it that one day, Saturn became angry with men, as they were always quarrelsome and ready to fight each other. He hurled one of his mighty lightning bolts at them. Lightning struck Tuscany and gave life to an aquifer that began to gush boiling water. Those who bathed in those waters immediately became meek and tame.

Thus the Saturnia waterfalls were born.

The Saturnia waterfalls, also known as the Mulino or Gorello waterfalls, are among the most loved in the world. It is a set of thermal springs of sulfurous water not far from the spa town of Saturnia.

Immersed in nature, the waterfalls look like huge limestone pools created over the centuries by the calcium-rich thermal waters.

The water flow cascades from one level of the tanks to another, at a pleasant temperature, even in winter (37°).

Water has beneficial effects on respiratory ailments, skin problems, and circulation.

The waterfalls are free to access and open 24/7.
