Sorapis Lake and Finger of God - Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL) - Veneto - Dolomites - UNESCO World Heritage

Lake Sorapis is one of the most beautiful and scenic places in the Dolomites. Visitors are enchanted by its turquoise waters, whose shades change according to the time of day. You can consider it a sacred place.

The route starts at Passo Tre Croci, in the province of Belluno, between Misurina and Cortina d'Ampezzo, which can be reached, during a holiday in the Dolomites, from Passo Tre Croci.

You must follow the signs for “Rifugio Vandelli” up to the barrier, where the poster with the signpost n ° 215 points toward Sorapis Lake.

A pleasant hike along the path will take you in slight ups and downs almost all through the wood, then flow into another slightly stony and slightly uphill path. The trail now runs above the forest's edge and is somewhat exposed in some places but equipped with safety ropes. You can then continue more comfortably to the Vandelli Refuge.

Only 150 meters away is Lake Sorapis, a paradise among the rocks of the mountain group dominated by the "Finger of God," a spike of Mount Sorapis, whose name is due to its particular conformation, whose color depends on the fragile dust of carried rock that comes from the glacier that generates it.

It is a destination to aspire to, especially in summer, when the temperatures at high altitudes become milder.
