Ponale Alto Belvedere - Riva del Garda (TN) - Trentino-Alto Adige

Breathtaking view along the Ponale Alpine Path... #tuttitaly

Ponale Alto Belvedere - Riva del Garda (TN) - Trentino-Alto Adige

To get to the Ponale Alto Belvedere, you must take the Strada del Ponale, designed in 1847 as part of a complex of fortifications to defend the Upper Garda. In fact, along the climb, you will discover numerous loopholes, tunnels, and Austro-Hungarian fortifications erected first to

prevent the descent of Garibaldi's troops from the Ledro Valley towards Garda and then, to defend the border of the Austro-Hungarian Empire with Italy first and during the First World War.

Today, you can enjoy the unique thrill of this road by mountain bike and on foot. Kevin (my 6-year-old son) and I walked it, and we could enjoy the suggestiveness of its conformation calmly.

Furthermore, children can be curious about every detail 😁

Therefore, starting from Riva del Garda, we walked the road until we reached the Ponale Alto Bar-Restaurant. This offers a terrace where you can relax in front of a magnificent panorama. Taking a break before continuing to Lake Ledro is a must to enjoy the experience fully. We also enjoyed a nice piece of cake with a coffee, just for me.

The Ponale is a stream that originates from Lake Ledro and ends in Lake Garda with a waterfall of about 30 meters, which is therefore called "Cascata del Ponale."

You will not be able to resist the temptation to take some photos of the beauty you will find in front of you.
