Pieve Di San Giusto Vescovo - Suvereto (LI) - One of the most beautiful villages in Italy - Tuscany

The Pieve di San Giusto Vescovo is a church in Suvereto, in the province of Livorno. Its history dates back to the 10th century, but it is believed to be even older, as it is documented as early as 923. The current building results from a reconstruction in the late 12th century, designed by architects Barone Amico and Bono da Calci.

To access the church, one must climb a wide staircase that leads to the square in front. The facade is divided into two levels and features an imposing lunette portal, which gives it a characteristic appearance.

On the other hand, the bell tower consists of two bell chambers with classical windows and a battlement on the top.

The church has a single nave and a wooden vaulted ceiling. The walls are entirely covered in stone, and the apse is adorned with a semicircular recess with three windows. These elements create a sense of depth and spaciousness inside the building.

The Pieve di San Giusto Vescovo is a place of great historical and artistic interest, deserving a visit to admire its architecture and immerse oneself in the history of Livorno.
