Passo Tre Croci, unfortunately, takes its name from a sad event... Dolomites declared a #UNESCO Heritage Site for the uniqueness and beauty of their landscape... #tuttitaly
Passo Tre Croci is an alpine pass in the Dolomites located 1805 meters in the Ampezzano area between Monte Cristallo to the north and Sorapiss to the south.
The pass takes the name "Tre Croci" from a sad event in 1789.
A woman left for Cortina D'Ampezzo, with her two children, in search of a job. Unfortunately, they did not manage to overcome the difficulties of nature, and they died frozen near the hill.
In memory of the event, three wooden crosses were erected.
This point is very popular with hikers since two paths start from here that lead to the Vandelli refuge.
The actual destination of these, however, is Lake Sorapis😊
