Rolle Pass - Segantini hut - San Martino di Castrozza - Primiero (TN) - Trentino-Alto Adige - Dolomites - UNESCO Heritage

Located at 1.980 meters above sea level, the Passo Rolle pass connects San Martino di Castrozza with the other valleys of the Dolomites. The town is a small inhabited center with some hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops at the foot of the magnificent Pale di San Martino amphitheater, the gateway to the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Passo Rolle is one of the most spectacular passes in the Dolomites; you will be enchanted to admire its suggestive peaks that stand out in the sky with a maximum height of 3192 meters.

The height, the naturalistic context, and the first-level equipment make this step one of the most popular ski destinations, also because it is well integrated with the offer of the most famous resort in the area, San Martino di Castrozza, which is just 9 km.

In the incomparable scenery of Cimon della Pala and Cima Vazzana, Passo Rolle is an inhabited nucleus around the pass, in a unique position, and the equipment it is equipped with makes it an ideal starting point to discover some of the most impressive views of the alpine arc.

Excursions with snowshoes or mountaineering skis find fabulous itineraries between Vanoi and Lake Calaita (easy stretch) or Tognola (at times more challenging but exciting).

Among the best-known destinations, we remember the beautiful Val Venegia, the lakes of Colbricon, and the Cristo Pensante, which are reachable by following the trekking of the same name.

And since skiing and excursions stimulate the appetite, Passo Rolle puts on the table the local gastronomic tradition that can be enjoyed in typical environments such as the Venegia and Venegiota huts.

Baita Segantini

An idyllic place with a history rich in poetry. Baita Segantini was built in 1936 by the artist Alfredo Paluselli, who lived here in solitude for 35 years. It all began in Bellamonte, an old tabià inspires the young and reckless Alfredo, who decides to dismantle that old barn to take it to the place where he will live as a hermit, between climbs on the most inaccessible peaks of the Dolomites and poems that blossomed listening to the sound of the wind.

Not an easy feat that Alfredo carried out, tracing with a shovel and a pickaxe the road that allowed him to transport what became his home with the cart. A house to which he added an alpine lake, a magical mirror that, at certain times of the year, at specific times, inextricably links the image to its reflection for moments of pure enchantment. This is part of the story of Alfredo Paluselli, who, after traveling the world, planted his roots on the top of Passo Rolle.
