The building was destroyed in 1160 during the occupation of Crema by the emperor Federico Barbarossa, who, only in 1185, allowed the reconstruction of the town and the church itself. The sacred building was completed in 1199 by the community of the Humiliati... #tuttitaly

Parish Church of the Holy Trinity - Crema (CR) - Lombardy

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Crema is a true architectural gem that stands majestically along Via XX Settembre. Its uniqueness lies in its being built in a narrow space between the surrounding buildings, which led to a creative solution: vertical development.

The church's facades celebrate curved lines and protruding frames that embrace the entire structure, creating a breathtaking scenic effect. The church has two very similar facades, one of which overlooks the main street and is flanked by a slender bell tower, while the other is located at an angle and manages a small square.

Both facades are decorated with pilasters adorned with leafy capitals, adding a touch of elegance and refinement.

But it's not just the exterior that amazes; the church's interior is also a spectacle for the eyes. The dynamic and curved design, enriched with Baroque decorations, captures the attention of anyone who enters. The short but wide nave is flanked by three narrow transepts, each adorned with chapels and open loggias towards the nave.

History

The history of the Church of the Holy Trinity is fascinating. It dates back to 1095 when there was already a primitive church belonging to a congregation of Cluniac monks. Unfortunately, this church was destroyed in 1160 by Barbarossa, but fortunately, it was rebuilt between 1185 and 1199 by the Humiliati.

1737, the old building was demolished to make way for this architectural marvel, which was completed in 1740. The architect Andrea Nono, the master builder in charge of the project, designed a structure limited in plan but developed in height, adapting to the surrounding urban layout.

Conclusion

The Church of the Holy Trinity is a masterpiece of creativity and architectural originality. Its beauty and fascinating history make it a unique and unmissable place for anyone visiting this city.
