The province of Oristano covers an area of 3,040 square kilometers and includes 88 municipalities, numerous protected areas, and dream beaches... #tuttitaly
On the banks of the Tirso River, the largest river on the island, Oristano is born, a city immune to external attacks. The ponds, the fork of the Tirso River, the sea, and its high walls make it impossible to invade.
The city is very characteristic and is surrounded by 28 defensive towers, all square in shape. Among these, the most important are the Tower of Portixedda and the Tower of Mariano II, which represented one of the city's four gates.
Among the civil architectures of Oristano which deserve a visit:
- The Giudicale Palace
- Eleonora's house
- The Palazzo d'Arcais
- The Palazzo Carta
- The House of the Ciudad
- The Palazzo of the Scolopi
However, one of the most important is the Arborense Antiquarium Museum, which houses archaeological finds from the Nuragic areas and Tharros.
If you want to visit Oristano on special days, you can take advantage of its various recurrences. Two of the most important are:
- The Sartiglia, the traditional race of farmers and carpenters, which takes place on the last Sunday and Shrove Tuesday;
- The Ichnusa World, which every year attracts nationally renowned artists who perform on the stage set up by the sea.
