In the province of Campobasso, on top of a hill almost a thousand meters high, stands Oratino, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The municipality has 1678 inhabitants.
Surrounded by the unspoiled nature of woods and valleys, the village dates back to an ancient past. Some sources testify to the human presence as early as 2000 BC.
Once in the village, it was impossible not to get lost in its narrow, picturesque streets. Every corner deserved to be immortalized. And above all, here you can breathe an air of peace and tranquility.
Among the noteworthy monuments, we find the Palazzo Giordano, of fifteenth-century origin; the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, with stylistic presences between the 13th and 18th centuries; the 18th-century Church of Santa Maria di Loreto, which features works and decorations by the brothers Ciriaco and Stanislao Brunetti, well-known local painters, dated 1757.
La Rocca is located near Oratino on a rocky spur.
In one of the scenes of Sergio Castellito's film "Don't Move," shot in 2004, you can see Rocca while the protagonist travels by car.
Furthermore, in 2019, Oratino represented Molise in Amsterdam at the CibArti - paths of knowledge and flavors between places to be tasted and tastes to be discovered.
