Nago-Torbole (TN) - Trentino-Alto Adige

The territory of Nago and Torbole is characterized by strong contrasts, making it fascinating. In a small area, it goes from the "Mediterranean" lake (70 m above sea level) to the peaks of Monte Baldo (over 2000 m).

This particular aspect of the territory is due to the action of the glaciers.

As evidence of this, we have the long valley furrow crossed by the Sarca River and occupied, in its terminal part, by the lake, by the moraines present in the Nago countryside, and by the numerous glacial wells, the largest of which are known as "Marmitte dei Giganti."

Inserted for centuries in a border area, clashes and encounters have marked the life of Lago and Torbole. The signs of these can be found in the Pénede castle, in the port, in the Fort of Nago, in the numerous traces left by the two World Wars, and in the memory of the community which, during the First World War, was dispersed as a refugee in the internal provinces of the Empire.

The territory has given its fruits to the community, which, to live, has dedicated itself to agriculture and fishing. Finally, after a severe crisis in the second half of the nineteenth century, which gave rise to a significant migratory movement, the traditional economy was supported and then replaced by the tourist economy.
