A pretty village in the municipality of Guiglia, an ancient feud with a breathtaking view, located on the top that dominates the state road 623 between Guiglia and Roccamalatina. It is the birthplace of the "ducal cosmographer" Jacopo Cantelli... #tuttitaly
The ancient alleys and the splendid panorama of the surrounding valleys characterize the village of Monte Orsello.
The inhabited center was formed around the Castle, of which the ruins remain.
Today we can admire the church dedicated to the Assumption, equipped with a bell tower from 1271. The building was rebuilt between 1945 and 1947 following the bombings.
Inside, the precious terracotta Madonna with child dates back to 1545.
In 1643, the village of Monte Orsello gave birth to Jacopo Cantelli, geographer and librarian, whose maps were included in the Geographic Mercury, the well-known Atlas published in Rome in 1692.
