The Ferrara Balloons Festival is the most crucial event in Italy and one of the most important worldwide for the aerostatic flight sector.

The Ferrara Balloons Festival, organized by the province and the Municipality of Ferrara, has occurred every year, since 2005, in the Giorgio Bassani Urban Park, in September.

Inside the park is a green area of ​​23,000 m² called Villaggio dell'Aria. We also find the Sports Village dedicated to the practice of various sports, the Magic City (reconstruction of a Renaissance village), the Air Force promotional stand, food stands, and the Balloon Store, where you can buy festival gadgets.

The festival offers two ways to fly in hot air balloons:

- Free flights by reservation allow you to fly in a hot air balloon over the historic center of Ferrara and the mouth of the Po delta.

- The restricted flights allow the public to experience the take-off and landing of the hot air balloons, which, anchored to the ground, rise approximately 30 m offering the spectacle of the festival from above.
