distinguished this locality called the "city of stone" due to the tradition of stonemasons.

Among the things to see: the Pieve di San Silvestro and the church of San Giuseppe, the seventeenth-century villas, the open-air stone sculpture museum with more than 200 works scattered throughout the municipal area, the thematic site dedicated to Felice Pedroni, Italian gold discoverer in Alaska, who founded the town of Fairbanks in 1904 with which Fanano is twinned.
