Diamante is nicknamed the "pearl of the Tyrrhenian" and owns one of the only two islands in Calabria, the island of Cirella... #tuttitaly
At the center of the Riviera dei Cedri stands Diamante, with its 8 km beach and varied combinations of sand and color. It also boasts a crystalline sea with ever-changing seabeds and the presence of one of the only two islands of Calabria, the suggestive island of Cirella.
Curiosity:
This turns out to be one of the most beautiful challenges in the history of Italy. In 1981, the Genoese artist Nanni Razzetti arrived in this village with the "Murales project."
In the same year, 83 other artists from all over the world joined, with brushes and colors, and chose to paint the houses' walls and the village's monuments, creating real works of art. Between 1986 and 1997, other murals are added to the project; since then, a wall has become an artist's canvas every year.
With its 300 murals, Diamante has become the most painted city in Italy.
In 1994, the Italian Academy of Peperoncino was born, an idea of Enzo Monaco to enhance the chili.
From Tortora to Cedraro, along the Calabrian-Tyrrhenian coast, there is the Riviera dei Cedri. Almost all of the national production is grown here, and you can also find the most valuable variety: the "Smooth Diamond Cedar."
It is said that this cultivation was introduced in Calabria by the Jews and that the cedar has found the only microclimate along this coast that allows its existence. Every year, from April to June, the Riviera becomes an explosion of white flowers with purple hues and a strong and delicate perfume simultaneously.
From June to August, rabbis worldwide meet along the Riviera to choose the best cedars suitable for celebrating Sukkoth, the Jewish feast of booths.
Diamante is a mix of history, culture, and unspoiled beauty, making this village one of the most beautiful places in Calabria. Furthermore, its crystal clear sea is a natural attraction for tourists.
