Bagni San Filippo - Castiglione d'Orcia (SI) - Val d'Orcia - UNESCO World Heritage Site - Tuscany

A perfect place to enjoy thermal treatments is the Bagni San Filippo, a fraction of the municipality of Castiglione d'Orcia.

Bagni San Filippo is located south of the Val d'Orcia, on the road that leads from Pienza to Abbadia San Salvatore, at the foot of Monte Amiata.

Here you will find five sources of sulfurous water with highly healing properties, which make it one of the most popular hot springs in Tuscany.

The waters of the thermal springs reach 48 ° C in winter. And the best months to go are March to November. To attract people are the natural pools and waterfalls and the beauty of the surrounding woods adorned with chestnuts, holm oaks, and ferns.

Upon entering this area, you will encounter pools along the road and up the stream.

Hot and transparent waters characterize these, but they cannot keep the collections warm due to the low quantity.

Continuing along the path along the river, you will arrive at the Whale Waterfall, a massive block of limestone formed by the sediments of the white hyper-thermal waters. The name is due to the resemblance to a whale's mouth and is a striking limestone formation.

Under the waterfall, with the help of stones, branches, and leaves, numerous pools filled with hot water have been built over time. On the bottom of these is a rich thermal mud, perfect to be used as a mask for the face and body.

Bagni San Filippo provides us with spas with completely free access, which allow us to enjoy a day of relaxation and regenerate body and souls.
