Alfonsine (RA) - Emilia Romagna

Alfonsine is a quiet locality in the lower Ravenna area. A new city, reborn after the terrible bombings of the Second World War. A city that looks to the future while keeping the memory of the past and tradition alive.

In summer, the city opens its public and private gardens to poetry, theater, and music with "Pensiero Narrazione e Voce."

You can also visit the birthplace of Vincenzo Monti, where

the famous neoclassical poet was born in 1754.

The house, recently restored and used as a museum, is home to the Environmental Education Center dedicated to the Po Delta Regional Park and the Alfonsine Nature Reserve, an oasis of refuge for the flora and fauna of the valleys.

In Piazza della Resistenza, the Museo della Battaglia del Senio documents the bloody battle of 10 April 1945 along the "Gothic Line" through images and testimonies on the partisan struggle.

The dynamic, ephemeral labyrinth winds sinuously through a cornfield of about 6 hectares in a dense network of paths is fascinating. Open from June to September.
